The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest action-packed instalment that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for embracing violence and mayhem with similar excitement, all while weaving engaging, socially charged tales. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two creators whose creations have exemplified all of those qualities.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' style by having a different backdrop and cast of characters in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their steady belief and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the core of society through this intricate and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, daring approach to the audience.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
