The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the globally famous franchise Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in California he was 55 years old.

His passing was verified by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the video game company that he helped create.

The renowned video game developer passed away following his vehicle was involved in a crash and was engulfed in flames on a highway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, US media outlets report.

"This represents a devastating loss, and our hearts are with Vince's loved ones, his family, and everyone impacted by his work," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
